The AKH - Algarveknowhow Team was established with a clear and ambitious mission: to empower individuals in successfully navigating the intricate and often overwhelming processes of document and visa applications in Portugal. We understand that dealing with bureaucratic procedures can generate significant stress, and we are unwavering in our commitment to providing comprehensive support and guidance to those facing these challenges.


Our story began with a pivotal moment involving one of our clients, Jason. When Jason sought assistance for his D7 Visa application, he was met with the shock of exorbitant fees quoted by a legal professional. Recognizing the immense pressure this placed on him, I decided to step in and offer my help. This proactive approach not only alleviated Jason’s financial and emotional burden but also sparked the idea that eventually led to the founding of AKH. Jason’s experience and faith in our capabilities left a significant impression on me, and I often refer to him as the "Godfather" of our team, grateful for the trust he placed in us during such a critical time.


At AKH, we are committed to fostering a compassionate and diverse environment. Our team members come from various backgrounds and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. This diversity allows us to approach the challenges we face with creativity, resilience, and a unique perspective. Since our inception in 2021, we have intentionally assembled a range of experts, including but not limited to legal professionals who specialize in immigration law, certified translators for accurate documentation, accountants with insights into financial regulations, real estate agents who can navigate the local market, mortgage brokers who facilitate home financing, insurance brokers for securing necessary coverage, wealth management professionals to assist with financial planning, and administrative specialists who ensure a smooth application process.

Team Founder

Eugenia (Jeannie) was born in Portugal and began a new chapter in her life by moving to Vancouver, BC, Canada, in 1970. After spending nearly two decades in Canada, she returned to her roots in Portugal in 1989. Since then, she has built an impressive career spanning 35 years. During this time, she has successfully managed a tourism and property management company while also accumulating 13 years of experience as a court translator. This unique combination of skills highlights her remarkable versatility and ability to thrive in diverse professional environments.


Throughout her career, Eugenia has developed a thorough and nuanced understanding of the bureaucratic system in Portugal. She engages daily with various government entities, easily navigating local regulations and procedures. Her experience collaborating with several law firms further solidifies her expertise in legal and administrative processes, making her a trusted resource for clients seeking guidance in these areas. As someone who was once a newcomer to Portugal and faced its bureaucratic hurdles, she was inspired to start AKH, where she listens to her clients with empathy and understanding.


Beyond her professional accomplishments, Eugenia is passionate about traveling, hiking, walking, cooking, and nurturing the connection between body and mind. These activities not only enrich her life but also provide balance, allowing her to recharge and maintain a positive outlook. At the core of her endeavors is a deep love for her family and a profound appreciation for the beauty and culture of Portugal. These personal values shape her work approach, instilling in her patience and dedication.


Eugenia's commitment to her career is unwavering; she genuinely enjoys her work and is deeply invested in making a meaningful impact. Her multifaceted experiences and tireless work ethic make her a dedicated professional who is truly passionate about what she does.

Tiago is an invaluable member of the team, known for his exceptional logistics skills and ability to think outside the box. He consistently gets things done efficiently. He is truly a treasure for our team, and it’s easy to see why. His role in the back office is essential, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. His logistics expertise keeps us organised and helps us navigate the complexities that can often arise.


His remarkable ability to think outside the box makes Tiago stand out. He approaches challenges creatively and openly, and his innovative solutions inspire us all. It’s comforting to know that we have someone like him willing to consider different perspectives and try new things.


Furthermore, we all appreciate Tiago’s determination to get things done. He approaches his work with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, which reassures us that we can rely on him to meet our goals. His presence as a hardworking and thoughtful team member enhances our collaboration and collective success. We’re fortunate to have him with us!

Sandeep Kaur is a remarkable individual whose personality shines through her positive outlook, adaptability, and exceptional communication skills. Her natural optimism allows her to face challenges gracefully, inspiring those around her and creating a supportive work environment. It's heartwarming to see how her dedication to personal and professional growth reflects her commitment to improvement, not just for herself but also for her team members.


With a diverse work history, Sandeep is a testament to the power of versatility and adaptability in various roles and industries. She began her journey as a Sales and Marketing Executive at N.G. Agro Industries, where she gained valuable experience in sales strategies and customer engagement. This foundational role set the stage for her growth, and her experience as a Business Development Manager at Hindustan Enterprises Co. allowed her to develop her leadership abilities and business insight further.


Sandeep's work in customer relationship management (CRM) emphasizes her understanding of the crucial role of building and nurturing client relationships in any business setting. Her international experiences in Denmark and Greece have enriched her perspective, enabling her to navigate diverse cultures and dynamic environments easily.


In her most recent roles as a Store Manager and working in catering services, Sandeep has demonstrated her strong operational and management skills, showcasing her ability to handle various responsibilities while ensuring that customer service remains a priority. 


Sandeep desires to contribute meaningfully to a dynamic organization, leveraging her unique experiences and skills. Her journey is not just about professional achievement; it's also about making a positive impact wherever she goes. 


Additionally, her ability to speak several languages—English, Hindi, and Punjabi—enables her to connect with a wide range of people. Known for her kindness, Sandeep brings a sense of serenity to the AKH team, and it's clear that her presence is valued and cherished.

Team Member

Danielle was born in Rhode Island, United States, and moved to Bermuda at nine. Following in her father’s footsteps, at just 13, she began working in her father’s automotive repair business, first in the office after school and then full-time upon graduating college. Over more than 20 years in the family business, she developed a robust skill set and gained invaluable experience in various aspects of business management.


In 2022, leveraging her expertise, Danielle launched her bookkeeping firm, which garnered attention and was featured in Bermuda’s only newspaper. Shortly thereafter, she was approached by the owners of a local vehicle importation business, who recognised her proficiency in administrative operations and her deep understanding of the automotive industry. The couple asked her to become a partner in the business along with her husband. 


Danielle is known for her proactive approach and exceptional multitasking abilities. Her interests include travelling, baking, reading, and spending quality time with her family.


In June 2023, after a honeymoon visit to her aunt in Portugal, Danielle and her husband, Daniel, decided to relocate, envisioning a higher quality of life. In May 2024, Danielle and her three children moved to the Algarve, where they have embraced the local culture and lifestyle.


Portugal has revitalised Danielle’s perspective on life, providing a refreshing environment that fosters personal growth and positivity. The relocation decision has proven transformative for her and her family, enhancing their well-being and happiness.

Steve Westfall - After retiring from his position as an IT Analyst for Health Care professionals in Canada in 2023. Steve left little time before starting his journey to live in Portugal, and in a little less than a year achevied his goal of getting his Residence card.


Steve assists with technical issues behind the scenes at AKH.
